For the past few weeks, we've been putting Eli into a "contraption" called the Jumperoo. (When you have little babies who don't know how to move yet, your day consists of alternating between having the baby in your arms and having the baby in "contraptions.") For those of you who don't know, a Jumperoo is the newer version of the old baby jumpers that people used to hang in doorways. You put the baby in it standing and he can jump up and down. Babies seem to really like jumping.
Well, it took Eli 3 weeks before he realized he could actually jump in the Jumperoo. Initially, he would just stand in it and look around. To pique his interest, we'd press the buttons on it so that the lights and music would go off. I would even physically move his legs up and down so he could get the idea, but he wasn't interested in jumping. Then one day he started bouncing up and down a little and set the music and lights off. He started slowly, but before long he was jumping higher and higher. He got such a kick out of it! He likes it so much now that it's kind of ruined his "steps." Instead of just standing straight up to get ready to "step," he bounces up and down. B is very upset about this!
In this first video Eli has just started to bounce. We're all trying to get him to jump more by jumping in front of him. When we do that, he laughs so hard.
