Here are Evie's current stats--
Weight: 11 pounds 13 ounces (less than 5th percentile)
Height: 24.25 inches (8th percentile)
Head: 16 inches (8th percentile)
If you haven't noticed, Evie hasn't grown at all in 2 months! She's the same length and she's actually lost a little weight. The doctor said she's not failing to thrive, but just to be sure I need to take Evie back in a month to get her weighed and measured again. (Normally you have well-baby check-ups at 6 months and then 9 months.) I think she hasn't gained any weight since she's been rolling around a lot. Plus, she's more distracted when she eats. We're starting her on solids now, so that should help her gain a little bit of weight. My hopes of having a taller child is slowly fading into the distance.
Other than that, Evie's been up to some pretty cool stuff-- 
1. She is good at grabbing exactly what she wants. It's amazing to watch her look directly at an object and then slowly reach her hand out to touch the object and then grab it with her little fingers. And she's good at bringing it to her mouth. Actually, everything goes in her mouth these days.
2. One of her favorite things is the taggie blanket that AT made for her when she used to babysit for us. She loves to eat those taggies! Funny because none of my other kids ever liked those things.
3. She's a trooper about being out and missing a nap. As long as she's in a carrier of some sort, she'll just nod off in there and she won't complain. These days she loves to nap in the Ergo so that she's facing me.
4. She started rice cereal and we're not sure she's a big fan. Her face looked pretty repulsed when she tasted it. I love these pictures below because she's making this disgusted face with flared nostrils and all, but then right after I take the spoon away, she opens her eyes really wide and looks cute. 
5. She can kinda sit in the tripod position, but not for too long. In this video, she makes it for about 25 seconds and at the end she does the usual face plant that babies do when they can't hold themselves up any longer.
6. She has major separation anxiety now, especially if it involves me. Even if B is holding her and she sees me walk by, she starts to cry and tries to jump out of his arms towards me. It's bad because then I'm the one responsible for holding her most of the time. My arms are tired.
7. She's becoming a thumbsucker, following in the footsteps of her brother, Eli.
8. She can use the exersaucer now...which is a nice break for my arms.
9. So we had gotten Evie off of the middle-of-the-night feeding about 2 weeks ago. It took 8 days for this little girl to learn to just let it go. On the first night, she actually cried for 3 hours in the middle of the night! Seriously, who cries for that long?!? The only reason I didn't cave was because I left and slept in the playroom so I wouldn't have to hear the crying. B can sleep right through that stuff, so he was fine staying in the bedroom. The next night she only cried for about 2 hours. Then after that, she was pretty ok...every night should would alternate between sleeping through 9-10 hours straight and waking up and crying for an hour or so. But every time she woke up and cried, it got shorter and shorter. Then she finally started sleeping straight through 9-10 hours after 8 days.
But, life can never be so simple. After just a few days of sleeping through, Evie caught her first cold--courtesy of Eli, who had a cold the week before and could only manage to cover 60% of his sneezes and coughs. Oh well. Such is life with 3 kids, right? So Evie had a terrible runny nose and a fever....which meant I couldn't let her cry in the middle of the night because she was so sick and couldn't help it....which meant I reverted back to nursing her in the middle of the night because I figured she needed some extra fluids. Then she got her 6 month shots and got a fever again. So the middle-of-the-night nursings continued...
After this we decided to break her of the habit again. Evie surprised me the first 2 nights. The first night she slept from 8:30pm until 6:10am without waking up and then she went right back to bed until 9:30am! Then the next night she woke up twice crying, but she didn't cry for long and went right back to bed without a nursing. Again, she didn't wake up for good until after 9am. The last 2 nights she's been waking up and we let her cry, but she hasn't been crying for more than an hour or so at a time. I hope things are going to get better in the sleep department.
It's funny to watch Elina with Evie nowadays because Elina's always amazed at how Evie is changing and growing. For example, Elina saw Evie eating solids the other day and she freaked out because she couldn't believe Evie could eat from a spoon already. She said, "What? Evie's already eating food from a spoon?!?"
We sure love our little cutie. Happy Half-Birthday, Evie!
