Lazy or Laidback Baby?

Eli just went to his 4 month well-baby appointment. We were filling out this questionnaire regarding his milestones and we realized how lazy he is.

• Does the baby swat at objects placed in front of him?
  
• Does the baby grab objects placed in front of him?


• Does the baby hold onto the objects for about a minute?


• Does the baby roll over?
  

You're kidding, right? Eli is not even remotely interested in objects placed in front of him. He's only interested in looking at faces right now. He hasn't even attempted to roll over....not even laying on his side. He just likes to lay there on his back, smiling and cooing at us. It sounds cute (and it really is), but that's it. Eli has a "friend" who is only a few days younger than he is and that kid is already rolling around. One thing that Eli does do well is that he can hold his head up. I know it doesn't sound like much, but he's been doing it since he was a few weeks old and "they" say it's impressive. So take that! It's also easy to make Eli smile...all you need is a face and story to tell and he'll start beaming.

Anyway, after this doctor's visit, we concluded that Eli is just plain lazy. Yes, he's very social with the smiles and the coos. But other than that, his motor skills need some work. So in this way, we think he's similar to my husband. But my friend says we shouldn't call Eli (or my husband) "lazy," just "laidback"--which describes my husband to a tee.

So you decide--lazy or laidback?

(Surprisingly, 3 days after the doctor's visit, Eli started grabbing at objects! I guess that lecture from the pediatrician really worked!)
