The end of the year is always filled with performances and recitals. It's fun to see all the hard work the kids have done, but it also makes for a busy time. Needless to say, the week of the girls' dance recital and the older kids' concert, was pretty crazy...but fun to see the kids perform.
Evie and Eulee's dance recital was on a Thursday night this year, which was kind of insane since it was a school night. The dress rehearsal for the recital and the dance recital both ended late,but they were so cute! Evie's dress was a flowy purple number and she looked so graceful on stage. She is really enjoying dance and I think it's kind of her thing. In the performance, she's the 4th one from the left.
Eulee was super cute in her outfit, with her round belly protruding. She had the biggest smile on her face and totally had a great time! She was the second one from the left.
While they were backstage, Evie taught all her friends how to make rubberband bracelets...
while Eulee enjoyed some alone time on the iPad.
Then the night after the dance recital, the older kids had their Spring choir concert. Eli sang some really cute songs, like "I've Been Working on the Railroad." He's on the top row, 6th one from the left.
Elina sang some German songs and a few other ones, but they were all more serious than Eli's. She's in the front row close to the conductor.
During the concert, Evie and her friend worked on...you guessed it!...rubberband bracelets! That girl has been obsessed with those things lately. It's so cute to see things make a comeback with younger siblings.
Then the big kids had their Fine Arts Night at school to show off some art work as well as to recite some poetry. Eli's class recited "At the Zoo" by Robert Louis Stevenson. Eli loved that poem and had no problem with it. He is the only one up there moving side to side during the recitation...so he's pretty easy to spot!
Then Elina's class recited a few poems, but the most impressive was when they did the Aeneid in Latin. I didn't understand a word, but they sounded amazing together. And to top it all off, Elina's class was the only class who knew all the lines. Their teacher is the Latin teacher, so they were taught more of it, so as the poem goes on you can see that many kids stop reciting. Elina is in front with her class in the center and they are the only ones who continue. It gave me goosebumps!
The artwork was wonderful, too! Eli's drawing of watermelons was really nice...
and Elina's horse drawing was great. Although she said the legs were too short so it was more like a donkey. Ha! (Elina's is the one on the left.)
What a busy time! Lots of late nights and cranky kids, but it's been fun to see them all performing!
