Fun in February!

February was a fun month for us!

1. CHINESE NEW YEAR
The kids stayed up learning to play Blackjack and to place bets as well!  We also had lots of rounds of Left Center Right with money, too.  What's New Year's without money??

And look at how happy Evie is because she won the big pot of money after Left Center Right!
We also went to the Asian Festival with our friends.  The kids saw the lion dance and said that they kinda missed being a part of it.  Then I mentioned the Sunday evening practices and they quickly changed their minds.  Ha!
2. DOWNTOWN FIELD TRIP
Evie had her big field trip downtown and it was so fun!  We rode the trolley, visited the Alamo,
went to the top of the Tower of Americas,
and watched the Texas 4D movie. Eulee and Evie both watched it and handled it well. I was impressed because back in the day, Elina had to be escorted out because she thought it was too scary!
3. A WRINKLE IN TIME CELEBRATION
The 5th grade celebrated the end of the book A Wrinkle in Time with a little party and everyone had a blast!  The teachers dressed up as Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who, Mrs. Which, and the Man with the Red Eyes.  We made and hung up lots of star-related decorations; there was book-related food like sandwiches, cookies, and hot cocoa; and the craft was to make a tesseract with marshmallows and toothpicks.  What a fun party!

4. RODEO DAYS
We went to the rodeo twice this year.  Once on a half-day Friday and it was pretty busy.  We did lots of carnival rides with school friends that day but missed a lot of the rodeo grounds stuff.
So the second time we took Ama and Agong and we checked out more of the grounds.  We watched the pig races and the BMX bike show...we played in the Lego tent.  Even Ama and Agong built stuff in there!  J says it's amazing how the our kids can get Ama and Agong to do things out of the ordinary!
Eulee made the jumble on top of the green tile, I made the rainbow, Evie made the heart, Ama made the Lego face, and Agong made the swirl next to the face.
Look at how proud Ama is!

5. BLUE BELT
Eli graduated from purple belt to blue belt!  In January he started going to karate twice a week and we can tell he's improving a lot quicker now.  We were so proud of him!
6. YOUTH ORCHESTRA
We went to see the Youth Orchestra of San Antonio (YOSA) play side by side with the San Antonio Symphony Orchestra.  At the beginning they had an instrument petting zoo, so the kids got to try out a trombone and a flute.  It was so neat!  The kids couldn't believe how hard it was to make sound with the trombone!
The concert was good, but after awhile the kids were getting antsy and B nodded off, so we had to leave a little before the end.  But all in all, a great experience for everyone!
7. ELINA'S SOLO AUSTIN TRIP
It was finally Elina's turn to go visit J in Austin by herself and she was ecstatic about it!  My parents ended up going while she was there, but that didn't put a damper on things.  She got to watch "Kung Fu Panda 3" in the movie theater...check out Umlauf Sculpture Garden in Zilker Park...and kayak on Lady Bird Lake.
Besides all this, she had many photo shoots with Ponyo while he dressed up in her clothes.  That's J's thing--she LOVES to dress Ponyo up and we all think it's so cute and hilarious!  Love that pup!

What a busy month it's been...probably the reason why I haven't been posting consistently at all!
