Bye-Bye, Daytime Diapers!

It only took about a month, but Eulee is officially out of diapers during the day now!!  Woo-hoo!!  Needless to say, we are SO SO SO SO excited!

We had tried back in September, but she was not ready at all.  She would just pee on herself and keep on walking around.  So we didn't try again until mid-November over a lazy weekend.  We could tell right away that she was more ready because she would let a little bit of pee come out and then stop and yell, "Poopoo!" (She was calling #1 and #2 "poopoo" no matter what.)  Then we'd race her to the potty.  Of course she wouldn't finish peeing right then and there, but at least she recognized the feeling.  This gave us hope.

That weekend she even went poop in the potty, which was amazing to us!  Usually poop is harder to accomplish initially.  We were so proud of her and we always rewarded her with some form of candy to keep her going.  We thought, "Wow!  This is easy!  She's so smart!!"

THEN we had about 3 weeks of "hello" without the "o" (as Elina says).  Everyday after that weekend, she would just poop in her pants.  Do you know how disgusting a 2 year old's feces is??  It's no longer baby poop...it's adult poop.  It's not pretty smashed on underwear.  (Well, I guess it's not pretty anywhere, right??)  Anyway, no matter how much we tried to anticipate her poop, she would just do it in her pants.  And I even saw her do it one time!  She didn't do it maliciously...she would just push a little too much and it would happen.  I almost went insane during those few weeks.  We got to the point where we were just tossing out underwear.  At first we did it, because we didn't think it would last long at all.  Plus, a lot of the underwear Eulee was using were leftover from Elina so they were really old.  But then it kept going on and on.  She even pooped in the tub while she took a bath with Evie one day.  Another day she pooped in my shower...and she also pooped on the WAY to the shower.  It was a nightmare!!


It's already hard enough when you first start potty training.  You have to be on a lookout for all possible semi-clean potties when you go out.  You have to carry a million extra clothes with you.  You have to run for your life when your child says they need to go potty.  But the kicker is that 80% of the time in the beginning, your kid will NOT actually go pee or poo when they say they have to!  So you are already on the brink of going crazy...then add this constant poop in the underwear and you can understand my state of mind at the time.

Finally, on December 15, the clouds parted and she started pooping in the potty again!  And ever since then she's been a dream.  She rarely has accidents and always gives us plenty of notice.  It's awesome!

The older kids have been so amazing about helping out with Eulee's potty training.  Evie is always the first to help her into the bathroom.  And the kids will all read to her while she's in there if she needs more time.  It's the best!

I don't remember it being this hard...but then again I always block things out of my mind...but I'm glad this is the last time we have to do this!  Woo-hoo!!  This is definitely a rite of passage for parents everywhere!
