Pummy Time: Spring Break 2017

The first part of our Spring Break was spent at home since Elina had her Middle School Retreat to a camp 45 minutes outside of town. She had a blast going with her best friend. Despite the rainy weather, they played all sorts of games, had campfires and lots of time for worship and fellowship. She loved it...and came home completely exhausted.

At home, we taught Eulee how to ride a real bike! She picked it up so quickly because we've had her on a glide bike for a while now. B put her on the real bike and before he could finish explaining how to ride it, she had already taken off! We didn't even have a camera to take a pic of her first real ride! Ha!

Another highlight was that B and Eli went to a Spurs game. It was a free ticket for raising money for Jump Rope for Heart, so the seats were terrible...BUT the cool thing was that at the end of the night, the kids were invited to the court to shoot a free throw! Eli ALMOST made it! He thought it was so cool to be on the court though!

After all that we left for the coast...We spent 4 days in a small fishing town called Rockport.

Last year we went to Port Aransas which is nearby but more of a beach town. Both are located near Corpus Christi, but this time we did more of the fishing thing, not the beachy thing. We went with Bogie's side of the family since it was his mom's 70th birthday.

We rented this cute 4 bedroom house on the bay that had it's own fishing pier in the backyard. This is exactly where the kids spent most of their time.

There was lots of fishing to be had and the pier is setup for night fishing as well. Luckily, Eli caught a fish the very first night on his very first try. We couldn't believe it! What luck! I was so glad because in his New Year's Resolutions he had said he really wanted to catch a fish this year. Phew! Check! After that, he didn't catch a single thing for the rest of the stay. Talk about luck. It was on the smaller side so they had to throw it back in, but he was so proud of himself! That boy just loves to fish. Any free time he had, you could see him sitting on the pier trying to catch a fish. He says he just loves sitting there because it's so quiet and calm.

Besides a fish, we also caught 3 blue crabs in a crab trap! We caught 1 at first so I cooked it up (after watching some YouTube videos because I have never done it before) and all the kids except for Elina loved eating it! Who knew? Then we caught 2 more on the day we left, so we had to let those go. But the kids were ecstatic to see crabs!

The other thing we did a lot of was play ping pong. I loved having a ping pong table! All ages could use it and have fun. Elina played a lot with her grandparents and they all had a blast! I think we are going to have to get one soon.

One of the days we went to the little man-made beach in town. It's a small beach with grittier sand, but it was clean and not crowded. The water doesn't get deep so the kids could go out really far. The only thing was that it was pretty breezy and the water was pretty chilly...mostly chilly to me. The kids built a big sand castle. They played in the tube with oars. They buried each other's legs to look like mermaids.
