Every year Elina's school has a Fall Harvest Celebration where the kindergarten classes perform a corn dance and the 1st grade class performs in a drum circle. Last year Elina did the corn dance and it was way cute. This year she got to do the drum circle and she was SO excited about it. She had a great time banging the djembe drum. (In the above picture, the kid in the gray hoodie on the bottom left corner is Eli.) Look at how focused Elina is!
They started with a "rumble" where they warmed up their hands and followed the dynamics that the teacher wanted.
At the end, they imitated the rhythm that the teacher tapped on her instrument.
What a great performance!
